Coventry Hospitals Gifted Homebuilders’ Teddy Bears For Young Patients

Barratt and David Wilson Homes gifted the hospital team 35 teddy bears for the patients of the hospital, ensuring they can seek comfort during a challenging time in their lives.

Based nearby at the Pickford Gate development, the housebuilders are supporting organisations in the area, helping the community to flourish.

Daniel O’Brien, Head of Fundraising at UHCW Charity, said:

“We’re incredibly grateful to Barratt and David Wilson Homes for this thoughtful donation. A stay in hospital can be a frightening and uncertain time for a child, and something as simple as a teddy bear can bring much-needed comfort and reassurance.

“We’re so fortunate to have such wonderful support from businesses and communities. That support comes in many different forms, and every contribution makes a meaningful difference to our patients.”

Alongside this donation, Barratt and David Wilson Homes have committed to working with a variety of charities and community groups in Coventry, including a recent £1,000 donation to Clothing Coventry and another £1,000 contribution to Hill Farm Primary School to help it build an outdoor shelter for its forest school.

Helen Lewis, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said:

“We are incredibly proud to support the children’s ward at the University Hospital Coventry with this teddy bear donation. We hope this gift brings a little bit of joy into the lives of the patients who need it the most.”

Adrian Evans, Managing Director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said:

“We are committed to uplifting the local community in Coventry and it’s a pleasure to support the charity’s efforts to enhance the hospital stay for younger children.”
