Thousands of children and young people have been supported through the summer by the Holiday Activities and Food programme, and planning is now beginning for the HAF Christmas programme.
With a few days of this summer's programme still to go, 4,400 individual children and young people have enjoyed a wide range of free activities, while also receiving a healthy meal each day, helping families during the school holidays.
Families have been able to choose from more than 50 locations offering over 100 different activities across the city. During the programme, more than 25,000 healthy meals have been provided to those attending sessions.
Funded by the Department for Education, HAF provides free holiday club places for children and young people who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.
Activities take place across the city and include sports, creative sessions, outdoor adventures, cooking, games and much more, alongside nutritious meals.
The programme helps children remain active during the school holidays, supports their wellbeing, and gives them opportunities to learn new skills, build confidence and make new friends in a safe and welcoming environment.
Cllr Mal Mutton, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, at Coventry City Council, said: "The Holiday Activities and Food programme continues to make a real difference to families across Coventry, particularly at a time when many households are facing ongoing financial pressures.
"It is fantastic to see children and young people coming together during the school holidays to take part in activities, learn new skills and build friendships, while also enjoying a healthy meal each day.
"The programme not only supports children and young people but also helps bring communities together and provides valuable support for families throughout the holiday period.

The Holiday Activities and Food programme will return in December, with free places available for eligible children and young people over the Christmas school break.

The programme is delivered by Coventry City Council working with a wide range of local providers and community organisations to ensure children and young people across the city can access enriching activities and healthy food throughout the school holidays.
